What Customers Say About LG LFD790 - Home theater system - glossy black:

I found online if you hold the stop button for more than 10 seconds it goes back to normal. One day a music dvd that was left in the system just started playing for no reason. But every once in awhile it goes into "eject lock" or "demo mode".

The sound would then work, but the menu wouldn't come up so I couldn't play the DVD I had stuck in it. I won't pay $70 to send it back and fix it, it wasn't that expensive to start with. 30 minutes after I gave up on the dvd it just popped out.

This was an inexpensive unit and when it's working it sounds great. I have to pull the plug out of the power supply for awhile and then plug it back it. Don't buy it, not worth the headache if it starts acting up.

It was difficult finding a solution to fix it. Now, maybe a year and half later, sometimes it just won't turn on.

Now I have a useless dvd player with a dvd stuck inside of it. Now several months later it is doing it again, and LG will gladly "fix" it for another charge of $70. I'd rather destroy the machine to get my dvd out and go invest in something that works. I have had this system for only 14 months. In that time I have had to send it back once, at a charge of $70, as it suddenly stopped responding - would not eject my dvd, turn off, anything.

That means that you are limited in where you can place the sub - you're basically stuck with putting it right next to your TV and not next to your couch or in a corner.I have this system in a family room where running a full surround sound system really wasn't an option, so this has served us well. This system is clearly geared as an improvement over the speakers built into your television. With how I have to wire one player into another, it now only works with the blu-ray and not with the TV. But now that I have a blu-ray player, I've found that it's really not expandable. The sound quality is pretty good, although there is no real way to adjust via an equalizer. I've been pleased with the quality from the upconverting DVD player, although I don't know if this is a big selling point now that blu-ray players have come down in price. My biggest gripe is the fact that the amp is built into the sub and not the DVD player.

The system is a great enhancement for HDTV.especially the medium sized ones like the 32 and 37in in moderate sized rooms. It was not too difficult to hook up, but the non-audiophile members of my family find it a little challenging to operate. Particularly if you are an audiophile.

It also plays MP3's and CD's. The sleek design makes it look like it came with my HDTV. There's also a USB port.

This system is dynamite. The fact that it has a hookup for XM radio (along with AM_FM) makes it totally unique. This is one the best purchases that I have made in a long time.

For the money, the sound is very good. The DVD player is upconverting and is very close to the picture provided by Blu-Ray.

To change audio inputs, one has to change the TV to the proper channel and use the on-screen menus to make the changes. For those who like to change levels this product doesn't have an equalizer but it has always sounded great in my living room.As a DVD upconverter I can't say too much either. I really enjoy the way the speakers look and I like the plain front of the unit itself. I have owned this product for more than a year and I am satisfied with it. While I can't do everything I would like with it, it suites my wants just fine. It has always sounded great to me. Someday I will buy a different system, but maybe I won't.

Because of this, I only use it when playing movies on my blu-ray player. A 2.1 system is all I need. It seemed to struggle with my "Scrubs" DVDs and reds seemed to sometimes throw it off but I have noticed the same with my Panasonic.I am still satisfied with this product. I television's speakers for the cable and x-box. I think that it did about as well as my Panasonic blu-ray player for upconversion.

While I know it has its quirks, I am okay with them and happy with the product. The user interface is less than easy to navigate. I only ran a few DVDs through it before I bought my blu-ray player. While I wouldn't want to watch a movie on the television's sub-par speakers, I don't care about playing games or watching TV).I am not an audiophile so I can't speak to much for the sound. This can get really annoying, especially when other people, who aren't familiar with the product, try to use it. (I am fine with that though.
